Kostas Tsartsaris first major guest at
9th Kos 3×3 Basketball Festival
A great personality of Greek basketball will be present at the 9th Kos 3×3 Basketball Festival, which will take place from July 21 to 26 at Antagora Square.
Ο Costas Tsartsaris is the first official guest of this year's event, adding even more sparkle to the great basketball celebration organized by A.S. Phoivos Kos.
The veteran international athlete is one of the most important figures in Greek basketball of the modern era. He was born on October 17, 1979 in Veria and, with a height of 2.09 meters, he played in the positions of power forward and center.
During his illustrious career, he was mainly associated with Panathinaikos and the Greek National Team, becoming one of the most reliable and valuable players of the teams he played for. Under the guidance of Zeljko Obradović, he was a true "soldier", contributing in defense and attack and always putting the whole above personal distinction.
Total won 22 titles in his career, of which 21 with the Panathinaikos jersey. His collection includes three EuroLeague titles, in 2007, 2009 and 2011, ten Greek championships and eight Greek Cups.
At the same time, it emerged three consecutive times MVP of the Greek Cup final, in 2006, 2007 and 2008, confirming his decisive presence in the big games. His place in the history of the Greek championship is also particularly important, as he is at the top of the relevant list of total rebounds in the ESAKE era.
Equally important was his contribution to the Greek National Team, with which he became key member of the famous "golden generation"«. In 2005, he won the gold medal at the EuroBasket in Belgrade, while a year later he celebrated the silver medal at the World Championship in Japan, participating in Greece's historic victory against the United States.
With the representative team, he also took fifth place at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 and Beijing in 2008.
Since 2021, Kostas Tsartsaris continues to contribute to Greek basketball from a different position, as head of the development program of the Hellenic Basketball Federation, contributing to the development and promotion of young athletes.
His presence at the 9th Kos 3×3 Basketball Festival is a special opportunity for the children, athletes and basketball friends of Kos to meet up close a champion with a huge career, ethos and contribution to the sport.
